To kick things off, Omom touched an orb and it went totally fine and he got some healing he didn’t even need. Great! Things were going great!

Then, things continued to go.

Some ghostly bros tried to talk the party into joining their coin-mining operation, but it sounded like a little too much investment was required. Instead everyone wandered off to find stuff: a jeweled pin, a black gem, a rainbow tent, an amulet with another black gem, and a key.

Then, out of ideas, the party went back to the Wraithcoin bros and immediately found themselves in a pitched battle on and around a big, presumably soul-stealing glyph carved into the floor. Eventually, most of the wraiths were defeated, but at a pretty high cost. Feeling burnt out on investment opportunities, the party retreated to a room full of weird cylinders and wires, which Eunice set about trying to destroy. Omom found a manual explaining that the cylinders were part of a Gnomonics Institute rejuvenation experiment. Eunice kept trying to destroy them.

A guy who looked like Jeumes and claimed to be Jeumes but was not acting at all like him, either in pre- or post-possum form, showed up and introduced himself to the party. Eunice was immediately (or continuously?) suspicious, and tried (but failed) to backstab him. At some point, maybe-Jeumes investigated a deep underwater hole for the party, and may have concealed some cool loot he found there.

After a bit more wandering, Makalbly Jane found a small, obsidian door set in the wall, but it gave her Bad Soul Feelings. Then she touched an orb and briefly had way Worse Soul Feelings before becoming totally dead.

Then the rest of the party also had some pretty bad soul feelings.

In a panic, they attempted to repair one of the rejuvenation cylinders and chucked MJ’s corpse into it. But before that, Awnzo thoughtfully trapped her soul in a small box he had that can apparently hold souls? Probably nothing to worry about.

Following the instructions in the manual, Eunice fed one gem into the cylinder, but it didn’t seem to do anything. Then Awnzo released Makalbly’s soul from his box and Eunice tried a second gem. (The party was still quite low on gems and cash after losing all their stuff to that wheel in the cave where they had the mediocre tea.)

This time, something happened: Makalbly Jane’s hair all began growing very quickly, and then her left arm also grew very quickly. She sputtered back into semi-life, and the party, continuing to panic, applied every potion/magical substance they had to her, with the following results:

Dynamic Maximization: SHE IS FORTY FEET TALL

Magic Ointment: NOTHING

PowerBlood: NOTHING

Possibly other potions, I forget: STILL NOTHING

As MJ continued to hover between life and death (and eventually stopped being forty feet tall, though did continue to have a weirdly swole left arm), Oika remembered some Good Words relating to the Goat: when there was only one set of footprints in the sand, it was then that the Great Goat had wandered off to chomp some driftwood. She snapped off a chunk of busted table and forced it into Makalbly Jane’s mouth, hauling her over the finish line to mostly aliveness!

Makalbly Jane updates: Slightly stronger, slightly less dexterous, slightly forgot the last fourteen years of her life.

As all this drama unfolded, maybe-Jeumes stood by taking copious notes on the effects of the rejuvenation cylinder, and then headed off to report to his superiors. Way to help out, buddy!
