Back at the Gnomonics Research Vault, the Worst Party stopped to catch their breath after narrowly eluding the skeletal hand of Albert. Pretty soon Beffa felt okay, so she touched Eunice’s purple chain mail as an experiment and immediately became just about dead. But Makalbly Jane brought her back from the brink and no one learned any lessons at all.

After a little more dimensional door exploring (Makalbly Jane sent a pamphlet toward the blue-green orb), the party left the vault and discovered a small, thirsty dinosaur. Oika gave it some water and Nettie contemplated the wisdom of trying to turn it into her familiar; meanwhile, the dinosaur ran away.

While pursuing the dinosaur, the party found a secret door leading to a room containing the increasingly suspicious Jeumes 2.0 and a bunch of very old eggs in glass containers. Jeumes (“Jeumes”) invited the party to take some eggs if they wanted to do their own experiments with them, then turned ghostly and tried to flee. The party, sick of this obvious impostor-Jeumes, threw down. After some back and forth, Jeumes was defeated—and revealed to be Dr. Frackenstein! Makalbly Jane administered last rites, helpfully removing any valuables that might slow down Dr. F’s progress into the goatly afterlife. Her Gnotebook contained some useful information about the various experiments going on at the Gnomonics Vault; namely that the floating dodecahedron behind one of the dimensional doors was an experiment related to sleep--the Worst Party’s number-one hobby! (aspirationally, anyway)

Before the party could head back to the vault lobby, MJ found another secret door, behind which was some kind of big vending machine being guarded ineffectually by a sleeping skeleton. Then the skeleton woke up and became much more effective. Not that much more, though: after a few hits he just exploded, and the party turned their attention back to the glass box with the buttons.

Everyone put in coins and got weird junk! Wineskin of mystery liquid; old dried-up eye; elvish tea; spirits containing a scorpion; Mildly Famous Boneless Slime Dog. Some potatoes also. The people who ate their acquisitions… did not end up any worse for it.

Nettie tried to stick her arm into the machine to get the coins back out and promptly got lodged in there. After some oiling and yanking (uh), someone was finally dexterous enough to get her out. Probably no one learned any lessons from that, either.

Finally, back to the dimensional vault! The party opened the door to the D12 of Sleep and gazed upon it with equal parts optimism and skepticism. Beffa threw a little rock at it, and it began to spin. Then one face opened up, revealing a small, red-lined room. Eunice decided to go for it, but for “safety” went inside tied to a rope that Beffa was holding onto. The dodecahedron closed up and began to spin rapidly again, only now it was attached to a rope with a Beffa on the other end. Beffa went for an incredibly dangerous carnival ride, but managed to land on the path in the void. No problem, guys! Meanwhile, Eunice had a nice nap inside the D12, emerged with all her hit points restored, and wondered what all the fuss was about.
